Thanks, Emily Witt!

Stole this from her facebook status, but it is precisely how i have felt since moving. I love my life here, but this bizarre month of nothing structured but every abstract expectation has left me feeling a bit…blech.

‎”I want to think again of dangerous and noble things, I want to be light and frolicsome, I want to be improbable, beautiful and afraid of nothing, as though I had wings.” – Mary Oliver

While i’m thinking about it…

Here is one of the yummiest dinners under 500 calories i have made in a long time.

Not that i don’t eat good food-it’s just rarely good for me, especially since we discovered oytsers, mussels and/or crab with melted butter. Nom nom.

Anyway, here’s what you do.

Pan sear:

1 chicken breast, cut into small pieces.

1 small broccoli floret

2 baby bella mushrooms, sliced.

I used Tony’s herb and spice seasoning and some balsamic vinegar, but do yo own thang with the seasonings, albeit counting the caloric additions.
Then:

Boil 2 cups water and 1 cup quinoa for 2 minutes (it needs to simmer for the last 15 with the lid almost covering it).

Combine these tasty things.

Eat them!

If you’re like me and feel French at the time, add a mozarella tomato basil salad for desert. We won’t talk about how many calories are in the cheese, but someone once told me mozzarella is the best cheese for your health.

What’s your favorite dinner-comfort food? Exotic treat? Feel-good-because-it-was-from-an-organic-dieting-magazine?

Good morning, good morning!

Maybe i can't sleep in this room because i think it's ugly.

Youngaparmentlike. That’s what i almost titled this blog…so sue me.

I ardently believe that blogging is a good thing, if nothing else an exercise in self-control! Can i really convince myself not to convey an image of who i wish to be rather than who i am?

probably not, if my gratuitous spacing proves anything.

So yes! I am a wife, teacher, sister, daughter, and now blogger. Ech.

What is your favorite cereal? Mine is anything with blueberries in it, but not the processed kind. Just any cereal+real blueberries is my favorite cereal. Maybe even Count Chocula.

So now i live in Baltimore, a beautiful but devastated city in the heart of Maryland (which proves that i have no idea where the heart actually is in the body). It seems somewhat out of place in every way. Not too big, not too small, not too hot (until yesterday), not too cold (yet), and distinctively east coast. Here is where you find streets like Pennsylvania Avenue, which has a ratio of 1 white person to 5 Asians to 2310398410934 black individuals, soft-shell blue crabs, dudes wearing pink shorts and wearing Wayfarers with masculine pride to spare, and the most delicious burrito i have ever tasted-sorry, Michael.

I’m going to post some stuff about my life, and you can read it if you want to. I will also post links to things that are a lot cooler than my life, and probably less doped up on Diet Pepsi and blueberries .
